Business Coverage
Business coverages include Workers Compensation, Business Owner’s policies that offer building and contents coverage, loss of use, extra expense, liability and other risks that are particular to individual businesses. Business Owner's policies are highly individualized and tailored for your specific needs.
Workers Compensation
This coverage obligates the insurer to pay all compensation and other benefits required of the insured by the Massachusetts Workers Compensation Plan.
The coverage applies to bodily injury by accident and by disease. The accident must occur during the policy period, and the last exposure to disease in the employment of the insured must occur during the policy period.
Employers Liability
Employers Liability covers employers for their legal liability for bodily injury by accident or disease to an employee arising out of and in the course of the employee's employment not covered under the Workers Compensation law. While the coverage of the compensation laws is extensive, it is possible that the employer could have some legal responsibility to injured employees and other persons not covered by Workers Compensation laws. Employers Liability coverage is designed for this exposure.
While benefits under Workers Compensation are paid without regard fault, those not entitled to the protection of the Workers Compensation law must prove the employers liability for an injury to collect a judgement. Under Employers Liability, the insurer protects employers against suits brought against them by employees and others who have alleged that they sustained injury or contracted disease as a result of the employee's job.
Workers Compensation & Employers' Liability Limits
Each Accident: $100,000
Disease-Policy Limits: $500,000
Disease-Each Employee: $100,000
Medical Benefits
Provides full and unlimited medical expense benefits for a covered injury or disease. These benefits include medical hospital, surgical expense and other related medical care costs including physical therapy and prosthetic devices.
Disability Income
Disability Income benefits are intended to compensate an injured employee for wage loss. Unlike Medical Benefits, there is a deductible in the form of a waiting period for income benefits. Disability benefits do not begin in Massachusetts until the six day waiting period has expired. If disability continues beyond 21 days, Massachusetts State Law provides for payment of benefits retroactive to the date of injury. Disability Benefits are currently based on 60% of an employees average weekly salary (9/24/93).
DEFINITIONS

This coverage is used to insure against claims of libel, slander, product disparagement, piracy, infringement of copyrights, etc. that arise out of advertising of your goods, products or services.
Business Income & Extra Expense
This insurance is used to cover the loss of income that results from a suspension of business when the insured property has been damaged by a covered peril. Under this form, extra expenses are included and rental value can be included without monthly limitations. An extended period of indemnity endorsement is added to provide coverage after you resume operations and until your business returns to its normal level of activities, up to a maximum of 30 days.
Deductible
This limit specifies the amount that will be deducted from any payment made to you because of a covered loss.
Fire Legal Liability
This coverage is used to insure against your legal liability arising from damage to structures rented to you, for the peril of fire.

This limit is the maximum payable amount for all claims during the policy year arising out of occurrences, except product and completed operations claims.
Liquor Liability
This coverage protects organizations whose business involves the manufacturing, distributing, selling or serving of liquor. This is needed because standard General Liability policies exclude coverage for such activities.
Medical Payments To Others

Occurence Limit
The Occurrence Limit is the maximum payable amount for any one claim during the policy year arising out of an accident, which results in bodily injury or property damage neither expected nor intended.
Personal Injury Liability
This coverage will protect you against claims alleging false arrest, libel, slander, malicious prosecution, or wrongful entry or eviction.
Products & Completed Operations Aggregate
This coverage is used to insure against claims arising out of bodily injury and property damage that results from products you have sold, manufactured, handled, distributed or disposed of, or for work you have performed, provided the accident occurs away from premises you own or rent. Special Coverage Form
This coverage will protect covered property against direct loss arising from any cause not specifically excluded. The advantage of this form is that the insurance company must prove that a loss is specifically excluded in order to deny coverage under the policy. |
